First Steps
After the game has loaded your character appears in the playing world:
Press "H', at the following picture the main elements are described. You are always able to get to this picture, while you are in the game, by simply pressing the key 'H' on your keyboard:
Next to the details on the screen, the most needed keyboard instructions are described here. It also shows how to move your character: On the one hand you can use the left mouse button and click onto the ground where you want to move and on the other hand you can use the W, S, A and D keys.
Now press 'I' to get to the inventory and equipment window:
Now click onto the sword and move it to the symbolized arm of the figure with the pressed mouse button. Like that you are equipping you character with items out of your inventory. You are also able to double click the item.
Now look a bit around and move (Zoom = mouse wheel). Keep the right mouse button pressed and do a panoramic vision and walk some steps.
You are now able to see other players, computer opponents (mobs) or computer controlled friends and merchants.
Click the 'Alt' key and you see that the opponents have red names as the case may be you also see them when you are near to them (marked green at the picture). No worries - opponents in this area do not attack on their own.
Get your first quest by clicking onto the Scroll: 'Welcome to Metin2' (marked red)
At the mini map in the top right you can now see a blinking point. You need to walk there. Your character is always at the center of the mini map and the direction into which you walk is outlined as a cone. By clicking the '+' and '-' signs you are able to zoom the mini map.
Now you should walk to the village guard where you will get your first assignment (Quest):
A quest giver is also visible from far away because of the arrow! Talk with the guard by simply clicking onto him.
Read the (possibly multilateral) text and click onto 'Next'. Now you get to know what you have to do to get rewards or maybe further duties (Quests).
Directly after that a bigger map is opened where you are able to see detail on what you need to do. You are able to show/hide this map with 'M'. In this case you need to go to the guard at the village square (in the middle of the village) and do a task for him:
Walk to the Guardian of the village square and click on him: You should buy potions for him!
Use the mini map to show you where you need to go to buy them. You also get a duty scroll, you are able to click on, to get more details about the duty. Walk to the computer controlled character (NPC = Non-Player-Character) to get the potions.
Click onto the character with the arrow and follow the dialog:
Walk back to the guard at the village square after that to deliver the potions.
There gets more exciting- we are not far away from our first fight.
After delivering the potions you received as a reward some potions, you are now optimally equipped!
Walk to the portal of the village now, there you are going to notice some dogs and wolves.
Choose Wild Dogs in the beginning. The opponents are always appearing as groups of 3 and you always need to fight against all 3 at the same time.
Click onto a Wild Dog now to start the fight. You see that you are fighting against a Wild Dog with the level 1 (top). Those are the easiest opponents. You are also level 1 and you should not attack opponents with level 6 e. g.. Your character walks to the Dogs and starts to hit. Click repeatedly onto the Dogs till you kill them. You are able to see your own vitality at the bar in the left bottom. If there is no red left, you are dead. That is nothing bad as you are able to revive in 10 seconds. As soon as you are not in a fight you recover. You are always (also during a fight) able to press the key '1' to drink one of your health potions, assuming you have some in inventory.
The more opponents you kill the more experience you get. This experience is shown via the 4 orbs on the right side of your viability view. If all 4 orbs are filled you get 1 level forward. But with every filled orb you already get 1 point.
With those points you are able to upgrade special attributes. You can click onto the Plus symbol or onto the 'C' Key:
You are able to see that one character point is available at the graphic. Assign it to one of the four attributes by clicking onto the small plus symbols. By that you get e. g. though (=more viability points), stronger (=more damage) or nimbler (= better at evasion).
Often opponents that have been defeated drop something. This is money (Yang, in game currency) or items. Click onto those things to pick them up.
In your inventory ('I') you are able to see what you have found so far and you may also be able to equip this equipment, as long as the things fit together with your character.
Fight on till all 4 orbs are filled with 'experience'. After that you raise one level and you get new duties:
You are again able to view the map ('M') to know where to go. You are also able to press 'N' to see a list with all your open duties:
We have reached the conclusion of this short manual. You should now be able to go on adventures on your own. There is plenty more to explore - we have only scratched the surface.
